Chapter 5

18
Chapter Summary

Karma Sannyasa Yoga

Comparing the renunciation of actions with selfless activity, proving that internal detachment is the true path to peace.

Meaning (English)

Arjuna said: O Krishna! You praise renunciation of actions, and then again Yoga (action). Tell me conclusively which one of these two is better.

Meaning (English)

He who neither hates nor desires should be known as a perpetual renunciant (Sannyasi); for, O mighty-armed Arjuna, one who is free from all pairs of opposites is easily liberated from bondage.

Verse 4

Verse 5

Meaning (Hindi)

Meaning (English)

The state reached by the followers of Sankhya (knowledge) is also reached by the followers of Yoga (action). He who sees Sankhya and Yoga as one — he truly sees.
